A really interesting technique he used is to add this texture into the color channel and also adding some transparency. He then took the texture and put it on a light. I didn’t know you could do that, but it forces the light generate the texture on surfaces which is really cool. In this instance he used this watery texture on the light to throw caustic like shimmering reflections onto the inner surface of a fountain.
